On November 13, 1917 he was united in marriage to Anna M. at Long Prairie, Minnesota. They farmed at St. Michaels and Elrosa, Minn., coming to Douglas County in 1942 where he was employed by H. E. Kiger until sixteen years ago they came to Alexandria and this has since been their home. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Ahmann passed away July 16, 1974 at the Douglas County Hospital at Alexandria, Minnesota at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his wife, Anna; Florence (Mrs. William Chermak) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Delphine (Mrs. Richard Goldstrand) of Austin, Minnesota; Sylvester Ahmann of St. Paul Park, Minnesota; Alcuin Ahmann and Alice Ahmann of Alexandria, Minnesota; Virginia (Mrs .Marvin Schultz) of Brandon, Minnesota; also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ella Gully of St. Martin, Minnesota.
Funeral services were July 19, 1974 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria, Minn., with Rev. Arthur Hoppe and Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiating. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria, Minn. Pallbearers were Thomas Chermak, Robert Chermak, Paul Ahmann, David Ahmann, Gary Ahmann, Steven Ahmann, and Michael Ahmann. Honorary pallbearers were the Knights of Columbus.
