She is survived by 3 sons, Stephen D. Bachman, (Tracie) of Panama City, Fl, Gregory R. Bachman, (Barbara) of Etters, PA, Michael R. Bachman, (Dee) of Mechanicsburg, PA; one daughter, Cheryl Bachman Fraser, (Peter) of Lake George, NY; and 9 grandchildren, Brandon, Genna, Hunter, Ridge, Brianna, Kara, Madelana Bachman, and Heath and Mackenzie Fraser.
She was a graduate of John Harris High School, Class of 1945, where she was a drum majorette and member of the Reunion committee. She attended Lebanon Valley College majoring in music.
She was a member of Bowmansdale Church of God, and a former member of West Shore Country Club where she received most improved golfer two consecutive seasons.
She was a swimming instructor with the American Red Cross for 30 years, and operated a swim school at Sun and Splash Swim and Tennis.
Betty was also the Inaugural ski instructor at Blair Mountain in Dillsburg for 2 years, and the first ski instructor/supervisor at Ski Roundtop in Lewisberry, where she taught private lessons for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was the most popular ski instructor on the staff often having more private lessons than all other instructors combined. Her outstanding contributions to the ski school staff and Ski Roundtop were honored when a special "Betty Bachman Day" was set aside upon her retirement. She was certified by both the Professional Ski Instructors of America and Canada.
Betty continued to support in her parents name the Ritter Lodge at Hidden Valley Boy Scout Camp, a family tribute to her brother who was killed in World War II.
