The Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake City, Utah, September 20, 1947:

"Mrs. Mary Ann Newson Timms, 77, a former Salt Laker, died Wednesday at her home in Los Angeles, Salt Lake relatives were informed.

She was born Oct. 29, 1869, in Ipswich, England, a daughter of Robert C. and Mary Ann Bradlaugh Newson. That year she and her mother came to the United States as converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and settled in Salt Lake City.

On Sept. 25, 1888, she was married to Avery J. Timms in the Logan LDS temple. He died in 1939 in Los Angeles.

During her residence in Salt Lake City, Mrs. Timms was a member of the Eleventh, Nineteenth, and Twenty-Seventh LDS wards and was active in the Relief society. She continued those interests in Los Angeles. Mrs. Timms was a member of the Tabernacle Choir for several years.

She was well known for her oil painting having had public displays of her work in both Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. The family has resided in Los Angeles since 1920.

Survivors included two sons and four daughters, Avery N. and William Robert Timms and Mrs. Juanita Bennett, all of Los Angeles; Mrs. Zelma Frank, New York City; Mrs. Edith Wetzel and Mrs. Mary Keate, both of Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The body will be brought to Salt Lake City for funeral services and burial."

Siblings were: William George, Alice Maria, Louis B., Robert, Charles, Sarah Ann, and Morris Field Newson.
