There appears to be a mystery about Daniel's date of birth. WWI registration records show it was Dec. 14, 1877. His death record shows it as Dec. 14, 1884. Census records have shown other years of birth. Thanks to Jari Dikes, a fellow FindAGrave member, for pointing this out. Efforts to find his tombstone have been fruitless.

Daniel, the son of James Washington & Malinda "Lindy" (Hutchings) Holder, married Eliza "Demeris" Self in Greenville, Hunt Co, TX, on May 18, 1918.
They had two children: Lillian Demeris & Paul Daniel. They were living in Merit, in Hunt County, when Demeris died on December 16, 1926, leaving him with two young children.
Demeris's cousin, Callie (Stair) & her husband, Walter Milton, were taking care of his children on April 10, 1930 (when the Federal Census was taken).
In 1942 Daniel moved to Winnsboro, Wood Co, TX, where he continued farming. He had lived there two years, when he suffered from an Acute Intestinal Obstruction. This condition led to his death seven days later, September 16, 1944, at 4:00 p.m. His body was transported back to Hunt Co, where he was buried in Shady Grove Cemetery.
