Lillie Etta DeHart Bailey

Lillie Etta DeHart Bailey, 98, of the Maple Springs Community went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 18, 2009.

A native and lifelong resident of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Cynthia DeHart.

She was a member of the Maple Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, tending to her garden, and quilting up until she was 96 years old.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn (Bill) Bailey; and granddaughter, Teresa Ogle.

She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Gibson and husband Bob of Andrews, Dorothy (Dot) Ogle and husband CW of Whittier; four sons, Carroll Bailey and wife Sue of Waynesville, Donald Bailey and wife Gaynell of Sylva, Jack Bailey of Troutman, NC, Charles Bailey and wife Vickie of Bryson City; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Maple Springs Baptist Church. Revs. Roy Lindsay and Clifford Willis will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
