Olive DeHart Bailey, 89, of the Franklin Grove community, Bryson City went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 in a Swain County hospital.

A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Cynthia DeHart, and wife of the late Jake Bailey who died in 1971. She retired from Heritage Quilts with 10 years of service, and was a member of Franklin Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Kate Bailey of the home; one sister, Lillie Bailey of Bryson City; two half-sisters, Christine Waters of Belmont and Nell Kirkland of Franklin.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Dr. Steven Crider and the Rev. Tom Harris officiated. Burial was in Maple Springs Cemetery.
