~ Alberta Carpenter Obituary ~
Alberta Evelyn Carpenter, 88, of Longview passed away at the Hospice Care Center Oct. 17, 2008.
She was born May 4, 1920, in Philipsburg, Mont. Alberta grew up in Shelton, Wash., and Longview, graduating from R.A. Long High School.
She married Earl Carpenter 68 years ago on Sept. 20, 1940, in Longview.
Alberta was a member of the Kelso Roving Elks RV Club and Degree of Honor. Alberta enjoyed traveling in their RV, camping at the beach and in the Toutle River area, her friends in the RV Club, sewing and embroidery. She helped Earl build and paint their home. She kept a good house and enjoyed her family.
Surviving Alberta are her husband, Earl; a son, Kenneth Earl Carpenter of Castle Rock; a daughter, Cherrill Ann Jones of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Cecil Cripe of Longview; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Steele Chapel.
Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
