Christian's parents are unknown.

Christian married Catherine Alvey on November 10, 1821 at Washington Co, KY. After Catherine died in 1854, he remarried three times. He married Louisa Ann McGill, widow of Charles E Beaven, Sr and John Henry Manning, II, on April 22, 1855 in Meade Co, KY. After Louisa died, he married Matilda Simms, widow of Thomas Mattingly on October 16, 1856 in Hardin Co, KY. After Matilda died, Christian married Miss Eliza Ellen Peak, daughter of Thomas and Teresa Bryan Peak of Meade Co, KY on December 10, 1874 in Hardin Co, KY. Christian died in 1878 and Eliza married Joseph H Hinton.

In the popular history book, "Two Centuries in Elizabethtown and Hardin County, KY 1776 - 1976" by Daniel Elmo McClure, Jr, On page 484, it reported that Christian's 4th and last wife was Sarah G, born January 23, 1832 and died, October 21, 1879. I've found no evidence of this Sarah G and believe this to be in error. There is sufficient documetation to place Christian's 4th wife as Eliza Ellen Peak who was married to him at the time of his death in 1878.

Sister Teresa Wiseman of the Sisters of Loretto told me during a visit the Motherhouse in Nerinx, to meet her and her sister, also a Sister of Loretto, that Christian came to America on a ship that took 22 weeks and he was a stow-a-way and once found onboard, he was put to work for the remainder of the voyage. She also said that he came with a brother, she thought his name was Frank and was also a stow-a-way, and he settled somewhere in IN. She did emphasis that this was her family lore and she knows of no evidence to support what she told me but it is interesting reading.
