She wanted to become a Teacher so after normal school Charlotte attended Poughkeepsie Female Collegiate Institute. Upon her graduation she taught in Poughkeepsie, while living with her aunt Jane Ann Coffin. After a number of years there she moved back to Chautauqua Co. and taught at Chautauqua School where she taught a number of her nieces and nephews. At different times she lived in Jamestown, on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution and in Maple Springs. Her funeral will be held from from the Tallman cottgae at Maple Springs on Wednesday afternoon the 19th at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Charles R. Robertson officiating.
From various records it appears she and sister Ruth were the Mother Keepers of the Tallman clan.
2016 Update: Birth from a paper recently found in Nora Ball's family Bible with Tallman births written on it.
