One of my Heroe's giving the Ultimate Sacrifice in the service of our Country.

Mustered into the 90th Regiment NY Infantry Sept 3, 1864 in Portland, NY. He joined up with the Regiment Oct. 16 in Virginia. The Battle of Cedar Creek took place 3 days later in the predawn hours of Oct. 19th. Under the command of Gen. Early the Confederates attacked the mostly sleeping Union Army; characterized by complex maneuvers and a high level of confusion experienced by both sides, Trustom was wounded in the Battle. 4 days later he was admitted to Satterlee Field Hospital, West Philadelphia, PA. It's difficult to imagine the pains wounded soldiers went thru in those days. He was granted a furlough to return home to recuperate. After rejoining the regiment in Virginia he contracted pneumonia and died May 27th, 1865 at Satterlee Hospital.

This was the last Major Battle by the Confederates and the War quickly wound down after this. That part of Virginia had provided the major food supply for the Southern Forces.

2016 Update: His date of birth was recently found in Nora Ball's family Bible along with his siblings. Even more recent is a hand written letter by his father with the correct spelling of Trustom.
