Frances Cole Staples, 78, of Route 1, Box 148, Hiwassee (Cecil's Chapel Community), died Friday, March 8, 1996 in the Radford Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Shelby Cole and Bessie Elkins Cole. She was born on February 11, 1918 in Hiwassee, VA. She was a life-long resident of Pulaski County and was well known to many area residents in her work as Program Assistant and later as County Executive Director of the Pulaski County ASCS Office from 1957 to 1981. She was a member of the Pulaski Church of Christ. Surviving are two daughters, Frances Darleen Staples, Joaquin, TX, Carol Metz Faulkner, Cecil's Chapel Community; two grandchildren, Daniel Cole Metz, Cecil's Chapel Community, Laura Marie Metz, Cecil's Chapel Community; and several nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. from the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, with the Rev. Jonathan Webster officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visiting will be Sunday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski.
