McMinnville resident and Warren County native Irene Milstead Barnes, 84, died Nov. 20 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after an extended illness.

A retired teacher with the Warren County School System and a member of Hebron Church of Christ, she was the daughter of Claude and Lena Cunningham Milstead; and was preceded in death by her husband, L.H. (Bud) Barnes in 1993; daughters, Kathy Hobbs and Susan Barnes; twin sister, Lorene Milstead; sisters, Alma Milstead and Lea Milstead; and brother, George and Bill Milstead.

She is survived by son, Stanley Barnes of McMinnville; daughters, Joy Slatton of McMinnville and Janice Spiva of Nashville; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Alton, Thomas and James Milstead, all of Irving College.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at High's Chapel with Chris Perry and Wayne Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at High's.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
