Herb was my Great Uncle. His grave marker and death certificate both list his birth year as 1902 but that is wrong. According to the Curtis Family History which has been handed down to me Herbert was the 2nd child of Ernest Grant Curtis and Birdie Hart. Their 1st child Ernest Levi Curtis was born 1903 in Nebraska. Herbert was born 1905 in South Dakota. On the South Dakota Birth Index his birth year is listed as 1905. Also the 1905 S.D. Census lists Herbert was being age "0" confirming 1905 as his birth year. The census also says year of arrival to S.D. as 1904 verifying that the 1902 birth year is wrong.
