A Poem Titled," Mother" In Memory Of Bettye A. Gorton Hunt

For all the many years you were both dad and mother
I appreciate it oh so much there could never be another
To measure up to what you've done to meet our needs and more.
You trusted only in the Lord to know what was in store.
What a heavy heavy load there was that you alone did bear
To keep us kids together even though it wasn't fair
I've heard you ask the Lord years and years ago
To let you see your children grown when you were ill and low
You didn't want to leave us with no Mother and no dad
You also knew inside your heart you were everything we had
You did without so we might have the things we did not need.
By this you taught unselfishness and to not have any greed.
The Lord was good and granted this but oh He did so much more
He let us keep you her with us a year past eighty-four.
