She created a loving home for her children, never once giving up and did so with hard work and her love for GOD. She was a faithful charter member of Bussell Church of Christ in Baxter, TN since 1956. She dedicated her life to GOD and her church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She retired from Wilson Sporting Goods after 26 years and continued to work until the age of 88 at Odie's and Dipsy Doodle resturants, where she was known and loved by everyone as "Ma Thomas."
Her family includes a daughter, Freida Boyd of Cookeville,TN, four sons and daughter-in-laws, Clay and Frances Thomas of Baltimore, MD, Ralph and Oleda Thomas of Smithville, TN, Clater and Stella Thomas of Cookeville, TN and Austin and Paulette Thomas of Baxter,TN, a son-in-law Alvin Clouse of Silver Point,TN, five granddaughters, Gloria Clouse, Nancy Gaw, Sandy Austin, Marline Bush and Lisa Bowman, nine grandsons, Durel, Dean, Mike, Vance and Randy Thomas, Aaron Clouse, Wayne and Stanley Gantt and Donnie Nash. 29 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins and a great neighbor and dear friend Lynn Policastro. Plus countless friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Burr Thomas, an infant son, Richard Lea Thomas, two daughters, Elsie M. Howell and Loretta Clouse, a son in-law Bob Boyd, two brothers, Dewey and Ewing Herron, three sisters, Carrie Cobb, Cordie Dunson and Mamie Parks, and two grandsons, Kennie Nash and Baby Sean.
Funeral Services were held on 14 Nov 2008 at 11:00am from the chapel of Crestlawn funeral home. Brothers Joe Britt, Charles Burgess and Denton Ramsey officiated the services with a special tribute to her from her great-grandson Jeremy Tollison.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
