Died, at 4 a.m., Friday, May 31, 1901, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. L. I. Little, four and one-half miles northwest of the city, of infirmities of old age, Mrs. Ann C. Alsbury, aged 81 years. Mrs. Alsbury was one of the older residents of the county. She was the widow of Rev. Charles D. Alsbury, a "hard-shell" Baptist preacher, to whom she was married March 14, 1839, her maiden name being Ann Cordelia Cloyd. Of five children born to them, three survive as follows: J. C. Alsbury of Raymond Mrs. Ann C. Anderson, and Mrs. L. I. Little of this county. Mrs. Alsbury is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at the old Bethel church, three miles north of Chatham, and the interment will be made in the Bethel cemetery. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 6-1-1901
