He married Phoebe Helen Hunt of Eastport in 1914 and had 13 children. They resided in Eastport where Eugene was employed in the mills until his retirement.
He was survived by his 10 daughters, Frances, Mabel, Elsie, Lucy, Alice, Hazel, Doris, Joann, Inez and Mary and by his 2 sons Eugene Jr. and Alfred. Many of his children resided in Rhode Island at the time of Eugene's death. He was also survived by his brother Earl Carter of West Pembroke Maine.
Eugene passed away at the Eastport Memorial Hospital and was buried in Hillside Cemetery.
