-----------------
The son of Samuel & Eliza (Habecker) Balmer, he may have married Sarah Ann Brubaker and did father Lincoln Brubaker (b. 08/26/60). Either they divorced or were never married.
A Civil War veteran, he served two terms of service:1. Enlisted and mustered into state service September 11, 1862, as a private with Co. I, 16th Pennsylvania Emergency Militia, and honorably discharged with his company September 27, 1862.2. Enlisted at the stated age of twenty-eight and mustered into federal service at Lancaster February 29, 1864, as a private with Independent Battery C Pennsylvania Light Artillery, and honorably discharged with the battery June 30, 1865.He married Anna Christiana Wieland ca. 1876, apparently having already fathered Charles Weiland (b. 10/09/74 or 75).The spelling of his first name on the tombstone appears to be in error as "Amazaih" would be totally non-standard, and nowhere else is his name spelled that way, including his death certificate. Further, the birth date on the tombstone may also be incorrect despite being reflected in his death certificate. The four censuses in which he appears claim anywhere from September 1834 through 1836, which are more in line with his stated age at enlistment.
