Early Life: Geneva Maude "Molly" was born January 26, 1921, in Logan, Utah, to Job William and Maude Elvira Egbert Morrell. She was the fourth of five children: William Egbert Morrell, Margaret Louise Morrell LeRoy, Mary Elizabeth Morrell Lange, and Madison Egbert Morrell, all preceded her in death. Her childhood home was in Logan, where she attended the local schools and Utah State University where she met her sweetheart, David Langley Bailey.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: They were married October 3, 1942, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, while he was serving in the United States Navy during World War II. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah LDS Temple on September 6, 1944. He passed away on July 13, 1983. Molly and David were blessed with six children: Richard “Dick” David (Shirley) Bailey, Kathaleen “Kathy” (Max) Molyneux, Steven Morrell (Marilyn) Bailey, Michael Udall (Barbara) Bailey, Dennis Lee (Diana) Bailey, Carolyn (Blaine) Dennis. She loved her family most of all, attending and supporting them in their school and church activities. In addition to her children and spouses, her influence is felt by 36 grandchildren (three preceded her in death), 101 great-grandchildren (two preceded her in death), and one great-great-grandchild. She was the total support for all four sons on their missions. Molly served her Heavenly Father faithfully in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life including Young Women president, Relief Society teacher, Homemaking leader, Primary and Sunday School teachers, visiting teacher and supervisor, and eleven years as a temple ordinance worker in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos LDS Temples. She fulfilled a mission as a Member Locator for more than three years. Most recently, she served as Sunday School class president where she welcomed class members by ringing a little brass bell each week. For most of her married life, she was required to work full-time outside the home in a hardware store, as a bank teller, as office secretary in an insurance and hospital administration office, and in clothing stores to supplement the family income in addition to caring for her home and family. But she never let spare time go to waste; she always had a project to work on. She loved to sew, crochet, knit, quilt, paint ceramics, stitch needlepoint and play her violin. She was an avid sports fan, especially for BYU. Geneva Maude “Molly” Morrell Bailey, of Alpine, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, October 22, 2016, of causes incident to age. She was 95.
