William N. Adams, 88, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 24 2003 at VIP Manor in Wood River.
He was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Aurora, Ill., to William F. and Isabelle (McFetridge) Adams.
He and the former Catherine Harshaw were married Nov. 5, 1938, in St. Louis. She died Jan. 11, 1995.
The World War II U.S. Army veteran was a pipe fitter for 30 years at Shell Oil. He was a member of Construction Workers and Pipe Fitters Local 553, Wood River Moose Lodge and East Alton American Legion.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, William Adams of East Alton, Allen and Shirley Adams of Fosterburg and Robert and Twila Adams of Edwardsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and John Hoormann of East Alton; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, "Dutch" Adams of Zion, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Adams; two brothers James and Kenneth Adams; and a half brother John Brandenberger.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where Father Delix Michel will officiate services at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be given to Saint Anthony's Hospice.
