ALPOCA — Rose Elizabeth Brown, 93, of Alpoca passed away on April 28, 2014, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.

Born November 10, 1921, in Culpeper, Va., she was the daughter of the late R.J. Reynolds (Deceased) and Annie Brown-Reynolds (Deceased).

Rose was a homemaker, a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church at Alpoca, and a lifelong resident of Alpoca.

In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ludy Brown Sr. (1917-2007) whom she married on March 14, 1964 in Alpoca, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1964, Page 354, Application Date: February 17, 1964); two sons, Carl E. Brown (Deceased) and Willie Ludy Brown Jr. (Deceased).

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Gerrial Brown and Toney C. Brown both of Huntington; two daughters, Teresa Brown-Petties of Huntington and Ramona Brown of Alpoca; two sisters, Katherine Reynolds-Turner and Francine Reynolds-Thompson; one brother, Sammy Reynolds; grandchildren, David Brown, Karnetta Brown White, Dorothy Brown, Loretta Brown Jones, Maxine Brown, Jason Brown, Gerrial Brown Jr., Jackie Brown, Jamie Brown, Terrika Brown, Jan Petties Jr., William Petties, Monica Petties, Jason Toney, Doretha Johnson, Kelly Perry, Jacob Lester, and Marizz A. Lester; several great-grandchildren, James Belcher, Tareska Belcher, Tanayveon Hampton, Shyne Petties, Brannon Brown, Diamond Petties, Jamie Brown II, Devon Perry, Malik Johnson, Jaliza Toney, Daniel Brown, Elijah Brown, Marhante'A Jones, Audriana Brown, LeAnna White, Ja'Ziah Petties, Ya'Riah Petties, and Zi'Annah Petties; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very special friends.

Services will be 12 noon Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor James Tunstalle officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
