Timothy Stanley or Stanly as written on his tombstone was the son of Robert & Ruth (Garland)Stanley. He was baptized on April 1, 1604 in Tenterden, Tenterden Parish, Kentshire, England. Read HERE for proof of his parentage.

Three sons of Robert Stanley, Thomas, John & Timothy came to America arriving in Mass. in 1634 on the Good Ship, "Planter" in the company of William Pantry, Samuel Greenhill, etc. Timothy was married to Elizabeth (no documentation has been found that her maiden name was Morrice) at the time of the voyage and they had an infant son. They settled first in Cambridge where he became a freeman on March 4, 1634/5.
Timothy Stanley & his family joined the party of Thomas Hooker and removed to Hartford in 1636 where he was an original proprietor of Hartford as can be seen on the Founder's Monument in the Ancient Cemetery where he is buried. His homelot in 1639 was on the west side of Front Street near the road to the landing, the second lot north of State St. He was a townsman in 1634. His inventory taken Dec. 7, 1648, amounted to 332 pounds, 18 shilling, 10 pence. His widow married Andrew Bacon in 1661 and removed to Hadley. She returned to Hartford after his death in 1669 and lived with her son, Caleb, until her death.
Timothy & Elizabeth were the parents of at least six children, one of which (ElIZABETH STANLEY SAINT JOHN) was my ancestor. She was probably the first of their children to be born in the New World.

Their children:
1. Timothy Stanley died young
2. ELIZABETH STANLEY ST JOHN
3. Abigail (Stanley) Cowles, m. Samuel Cowels of Farmington
4. Capt. Caleb Stanley m (1) Hannah Cowels (2) Sarah (3) Lydia (Cole) Wilson
5. Lois (Stanley) Porter b. Aug. 23, 1645 m. Thomas Porter, died 1711.
6. Isaac Stanley b. March 10, 1648
