Mother of David Ball Jr.

Ula Belle Metcalf Ball, 78, a native of Greene County and a former resident of Tacoma, Wash., died Monday morning at her home in Tucson, Ariz., after a year-long battle with cancer.

She is survived in the Greeneville-Greene County area by two sisters and a brother-in-law: Goldie Arwood and Patsy and Crawford Ricker; and a brother and two sisters-in-law: Guy Shoun and Ola Mae Metcalf, and Marie Metcalf; and nieces and nephews.

Additional survivors include a son: David Shoun Ball of Marana, Ariz.; a granddaughter of Tacoma; a grandson of Seattle, Wash.; a great-grandchild of Tacoma; a brother and two sisters-in-law: Lloyd and Thelma Metcalf of Florida and Margie Metcalf of Maselle, Wash.; and other nieces and nephews.

She was a daughter of the late Henry Shoun and Lola Metcalf and was preceded in death by two brothers: Herbert Metcalf and Lattie Metcalf; and her former husband: David Ball.

The body will be cremated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the hospice of the donor's choice.
