Izetta Alsdorf was born to Fred and Katie Alsdorf while her father was working as a boilermaker for the railroad. When she was in high school in Denison, Texas, the family moved to Ottumwa, Iowa.

Izetta graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1926 and went on to work as a very efficient secretary. In the 1930s she contracted tuberculosis and resided in Ottumwa's Tuberculosis Sanatorium for a time. Upon the doctor's recommendation, she moved to Arizona and was admitted to the tuberculosis sanatorium that was located on the border between Phoenix and Tempe.

After her recovery in the 1940s, she went to work for a large auto dealership as their secretary. In the 1950s, when the dealership transferred to Tucson, she elected to stay in Phoenix and went to work as the secretary for the Head of Nursing at the Phoenix Indian Hospital.

When her parents retired in 1950, they moved to Phoenix and shared a home with Izetta until their deaths in the 1970s. She retired in 1983. She lived in her home up until she died from complications of pneumonia in 1996.

Izetta had 2 sisters and 4 brothers:
---Ruth Harriet Alsdorf (1908-1987)
---Louis Morton Alsdorf (1910-1912)
---Frederick Marks Alsdorf (1912-1982)
---Julius Robert Alsdorf (1915-1982)
---Mary Rosalie Alsdorf Brockman (1918-1993)
