Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am happy to transfer memorials-just ask.

I welcome corrections, updates, links, and additional information on my memorials. Findagrave is a joy when people work together in the spirit of collaboration.
If a fellow contributor takes the time and trouble to send links and updates, please accept them in good faith. Findagrave does not require us to provide documentation at all, let alone several sources.

Thank you to everyone who has cheerfully added the information and links I've asked for, and a pox on those who won't. And thanks to the photographers who go out in the cold and heat to get photographs of stones for us all. Findagrave couldn't exist without the 'boots on the ground' folks.

Thank you to my Findagrave friends who help me with locating burials and stitching my pieces. Without you I'd have a much harder time, make a lot more mistakes, and not have nearly as much fun.

The lines I look for are Worsham and Moody on my mother's side, O'Quinn, Summers, Rentz and Kinard on my father's side.

If you have time, please visit the memorial of a great lady, my friend Winona Rhodes

Thanks for all the information on Daisy. I knew she had a exciting life, but just never had the time to look further into it. She was a interesting gal!

RE: Anna Orr photo
You're welcome. I also sent an edit when I added the photo. I created a memorial for John Alex Orr and photographed James William. I noticed that they were children of Lamont and Rebecca Orr so I just went ahead took pictures of their headstones.

Waldroup family
I am researching the children & their descendants of one of my ancestor's sisters. She had 2 sons by a man named Waldrop/Waldroup. One's death certificate says his father was named Dolph Waldrop. Since she was from Macon County, I first thought his father was from there, too, there are some Waldrop's in Macon Co., but I cannot find any record of an Adolphus/Dolph Waldrop in Macon County. I found your family & have been researching them in the hope of finding a definite link to your Adolph Erwin "Dolph" Waldroup, son of William "Billie" and Mary Waldroup. Artie's sons were both born in the 1880's, the 1st's death cert did not list a father, but his mother married about a year before he was born to "A Waldrop" in Macon County. The 2nd son was listed on the death cert as born in 1889 to Dolph but he may have been born earlier. There may be other children I have not found yet. Both sons always went by the name Waldrop.

Artie went on to marry at least 2 other men, according to one of her grandsons, we have been researching them on Ancestry.com and have found her with one, Alexander Holbrook, a widower who was much older than she was. She seems to have stayed in western NC all her life, she's buried at Wesser Cemetery in Swain County, her grandson just recently found her burial marker & I added a memorial to her on the website (right now it's the only one in the cemetery).

I was wondering since you are the creator of many of the Waldroup family memorials on this website if you might know anyone left alive in the family who would know if Adolphus was known to have had a wife before he married Annie Bright. It's possible they married & it didn't work, so they broke up & both remarried & went their separate ways.

Artie also had one child before she married, too, so I am wondering if she might have had a personality disorder, her grandson said she also had another husband by repute named Grant but we have not been able to find her or him or her children in 1900. She lived in Macon County through 1880, married A Waldrop on Dec 9, and then I lost her until I found her with Alexander Holbrook still living in 1910, I can't find her in 1920 yet but by 1930 she was in Swain County as a widow woman working under her maiden name as a housekeeper. I cannot find her in 1940, she died in 1940 according to her marker in Swain Co.

I'm hoping I have the right Dolph Waldroup, since he seems to be the only one in the area in the 1880's. Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated. She's not a direct ancestor of mine but my cousin & I are researching her together & she seems to have lived an interesting life. I'd love to know more about her.

If you want to know more information, please write me back, I love FindAGrave and I'm so glad they have this website. I've put many memorials and biographies online.

Hello, Anna,

The grave marker photo was my pleasure.

That's a tough cemetery to get great pictures at, as most of the markers are a little overgrown by grass and weeds.

All the best, Bill

We did notice, of course, that longish phrases come from the WPAOG obituary that I link to on my page…
