Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired engineer living in Michigan who fills in many of his days with golf and woodworking.

But my favorite retirement activity is discovering my family genealogy history along with the stories and oral history as it has been passed down through the generations.

I have documented 6500 family member's genealogy using MyHeritage software on a private family web site. Now I am adding some of my ancestors to Find A Grave to make some of my findings public.

Genealogy records available for any branches of my family if you are related to one of my documented memorials. Also fell free to use any of my posted photos. Higher quality versions are usually available for the asking.

RE: Converse Grave Photo - Thanks
Glad to help. I actually didn't take the picture. The Indiana Geneological group has a website for Grant County Indiana that has a listing of several cemeteries with data for all of the people interned there. The data includes photos of the tombstones. So, I downloaded the picture from that site.

The link above will get you there.

RE: More Hockenberry's?
Believe it or not, our new found guide (Christopher) related that same story to us. So sad! If I needed proof of his veracity (and I really didn't) your confirmation of his tale provides it; and (as Jackie Gleason used to say)he's got a million of them.

RE: More Hockenberry's?
There is a curiosity regarding that cemetery; it is known under two names both locally and in findagrave.com: (1) Union Cemetery and (2) West Sunbury Cemetery. As for the Hockenberry name, I believe there are many with that surname buried here; and as for returning, there is a very good chance of that as the church I attend is within spitting distance. (Well maybe not spitting distance for a normal person but perhaps one trying out for the Olympic's competition.) While touring the place on Sunday, the dear wifey and I happened to meet a gentleman who is a former caretaker there and knowns the place very well; as well as anyone could. He was able to help us locate several of the grave sites we were seeking and knows the stories behind many of the occupants. Every death is of course a tragedy to someone (most often to the deceased if no one else) but the place is populated with one heartbreak story after another; more so than any of the other 125 cemeterys near us. Anyway, he will be of immense help to us there (we exchanged email addresses etc etc.) and we'll probably revisit within a week to 10 days depending on weather. I think I answered your question but I'm not sure if you asked one, and if you did, what it was. Once I start writing, I kind of get lost; sort of being washed away by the stream of consciousness. It's not easy being me.

RE: Philip May Photo - Thanks
You are very welcome, Jack. I see that there are several folks named May in this cemetery. I would be happy to photograph all that I can find who do not presently have photos.

RE: Elisabeth Erick Transfer - Thanks
Please keep the memorial! I'm glad that I was able to list her, but even happier that you now have her and could add information to her memorial. Maybe you'll find more info in the future to add. :)

Jack, There is only one stone for the Cruea family it is Robert L. Cruea. I don't know if they ever had stones.

Are Veda and Ella on in the same person? I found Veda with "Geraldine" Ellenberger. Let me know and I will upload her photo.
