Bio Photo Thanks to the many distant cousins and fellow "find a gravers" for helping me research my extended family. I've been working for a couple of years to identify the first 7 generations of the Johannes Hunsaker family tree. In the process, I've met many, many great relatives and greatly appreciate the unsung heroes who help document the millions of graves on Find a Grave.

I enjoy hooking up and sharing information with any cousin - no matter how distant we are. I willingly will share my GEDCOM and other files for anyone who desires. Any pictures I have taken may be used by anyone without asking permission nor do I need credit for anything I contribute to your memorials.

Do you have any information as to his DOD? I have been able to identify several potter's field burials by going back to the old newspaper archives and searching the published minutes of the county commissioners' meetings. They often reflect a payment to one of the local mortuaries, or "undertakers" as they were called in the past to handle the burial. Many times it lists a last name of the deceased.

If you have the date information and I could find something published in the newspaper, we can be fairly sure of his burial in our potter's field.

Believe me, I would like to be able to document as many of those burials as possible. Those of meager circumstances deserve as much recognition as do those of more prosperous circumstances.

You are very welcome, it was my pleasure. I took it before this, but my cell phone isn't taking pictures well. So I went back today and got it with my fancy camera. :-)

I took the photo around 7:30 this morning & it was overcast. Harvey is in the middle w/ his wife to his right & his daughter Verna Abbott 1937-2005 on his left.
I will try to email the photo to you but at the moment I'm heading out the door, if I don't get to it today I will try in the morning as I work 3rd shift.

I am the clerk of the Sheridan Cemetery in Auburn, Nebraska. I also do some FindAGrave photos for people.

I have had several requests to photograph for Mr. Langford. Our records do not reflect his burial in our cemetery. However, it may be entirely possible that he is buried in our Potter's Field. Unfortunately, all burial records from that area were lost in the 1980's...long story!

I plan on going to the cemetery today and taking a photo of the area that we call Potter's Field. I will post this photo to Mr. Langford's page with a brief caption explaining the possible scenario of why he has no stone or record.

I personally find it tragic that those persons unfortunate enough in their life circumstances to be buried in a Potter's Field don't have a place in our general cemetery burial records. EVERY burial deserves to be recognized, even for those who, at one time in our society, were considered unworthy of notation.
