Glen E. French, 69, Abilene contractor and former mayor of Abilene, died unexpectedly this morning shortly after being admitted to Memorial Hospital. He was born February 14, 1903, in Carlton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theron E. French. He had been a resident of Abilene since 1939. He was married to Lucille Sutton, May 31, 1923, in Gypsum. Mr. French was active in civic and community affairs and has served the city of Abilene as mayor on two occasions, first in 1959 and again in 1962. He was also an active member of the Abilene Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, of the home at 212 S.E. Second St; two sons, Maj (Ret) Marcus R. French, Denver, Colo., and Beverly G. Frence of Abilene; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Bean, Junction City, Mrs. Douglas Walker of Abilene, and Mrs. Fred Rogers of Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. Harold Jones and Mrs. Dean Bogart, both of Abilene, and Mrs. Alice Krawczuk of Salina; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and other relatives. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Martin Funeral Home.
