Mavis was born to Glenn and Lucille Sutton French. On November 4, 1942 she married Fred A Bean, Jr. He died January 17, 1994. Survivors include a son, Dennis Bean and a daughter, Karen Steffen.

JUNCTION CITY - Mavis A. Bean, 73, Junction City, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Bean was born Mavis A. French on Nov. 3, 1925, at Carlton. She was food service assistant manager and did secretarial work at the Army Air Force Exchange for 20 years. She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Covenant and past president of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 830 and TOPS 583.

Her husband, Fred Jr., died in 1994.

Survivors include her mother, Lucille French of Abilene; a son, Dennis of Solomon; a daughter, Karen Steffen of Junction City; two brothers, Marcus French of Aurora, Colo., and Beverly French of Abilene; two sisters, Carol Jean Rogers of Bellevue, Neb., and Linda Holms of Abilene; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Episcopal Church of the Covenant, Junction City, the Rev. JoAnn Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Junction City.

Memorials may be made to Episcopal Church of the Covenant, 314 N. Adams, Junction City 66441, or Child Abuse Prevention Services, Carol Lee Jones, 302 S. Seventh, Salina 67401.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City 66441.
