On 15 April 1861, Martha Norris and John Robert Bussey were married by Hardy Keele Poole, Justice of the Peace in Union County, Arkansas. John Robert Bussey was the son of Thomas Emmerson Bussey and Sarah "Sally" Bailey Bussey of Edgefield County, South Carolina. John was born about 1832 in Edgefield County, South Carolina, and on 18 September 1862, he died in Little Rock, Arkansas. John Robert Bussey served in Co. D, 37th AR Infantry CSA, and he was a soldier at the time of his death. Sarah "Sallie" Melissa Bussey Green Andrews was the only child from the marriage of Martha Norris and John Robert Bussey.
In 1870, Mattie and her daughter Sallie were living in the household of her father in Union County, Arkansas. In about 1875, Mattie married the widower William Henry Moffeit/Moffiet. Their children were Mattie Maud Moffeit Edwards and Odessa Wilkerson Moffeit Cobb.
Martha's third husband was John D. Taylor. They were married about 1885. On 12 May 1834, John D. Taylor was born in Lowndes County, Alabama, and he died about 1896 in Union Parish, Louisiana. Martha and John had twins William Earl and Minnie Pearl Taylor. The twins were born in 1886 in Louisiana.
James Norris, Mattie's grandfather, was in the War of 1812. Two of Mattie's ancestors are documented Daughters of the American Revolution soldiers and patriots. The DAR ancestors are Josiah Norris and James Patrick.
