Sarah "Sallie" Melissa Bussey was the daughter of John Robert Bussey (b. ca 1832 in Edgfield County, SC) and Martha (Mattie) Norris Bussey. Her father was a CSA soldier, and on 18 September 1862, he died in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sallie was the only child of John Robert Bussey.

On 27 February 1879, Sallie Bussey and Joseph Hamilton (Hamp) Green, Jr. were married in Union Parish, LA. Joseph was also called Hampton. On 16 Oct. 1857, Joseph was born in Truxno, Union Parish, LA, and he died about 1884. Sallie and Joseph had three sons.

On 14 December 1884, Sallie Bussey Green married John C. Andrews in Union Parish, Louisiana. John and Sallie had 8 children, and Sallie had 11 children from her two marriages.

James Norris, Sallie's great grandfather, was in the War of 1812. Four of Sallie's ancestors are documented Daughters of the American Revolution soldiers and patriots. These DAR ancestors are George Bussey, Zadock Bussey, Josiah Norris and James Patrick.
