Mrs. Cora Carson, age 87, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Scott County. Born September 11, 1923, she was the daughter of James Rile and Lassie Trammell Lovett, and a member of the Pentecost Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry G. Carson; (1) brother, James Monroe Lovett, Sr. and wife, Cloreda; and (1) sister, Doris Lovett.
She is survived by (2) Sons: Kermit Lee Carson and wife, Joyce of Oneida; and David Gordon Carson and wife, Teddy Jo of Nashville; (1) Daughter, Betty Sue Posey and husband, James of Oneida. (5) Granddaughters: Denita Hall and husband, Rick of Johnson City; Pamela Cope and husband, Eric of Oneida; Amber Carson of Nashville; Carrie Binkley and husband, Alan of Chapmonsboro; and Robin Carson of Antioch; (4) Grandsons: James E. Posey, Jr., Terry Posey, and Jonathan Posey, all of Oneida; and Troy Posey of Jamestown. (7) Great-grandchildren, Amanda and Chancery Hall; Kyela Baird and husband, Chris; T. J., Peyton and Rebekah Posey; and Sawyer Binkley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2011, from 2:00 P.M. until time of funeral services at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Four Oaks in Oneida. Bro. Jim Laxton and Bro. James West will be officiating. Music will be provided by the White Rock Baptist Church Choir and Denita Hall. Burial will follow in the Hazel Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James E. Posey, Jr., Terry Posey, Troy Posey, Jonathan Posey, Payne Lovett and James Lovett.
