Harry G. Carson, age 79, of Rt. 1, Oneida, passed away Monday evening, September 7, 1992 at the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, following a short illness. Born in Oneida on May 23, 1913, he was the son of the late James Monroe Carson and the late Betty Cecil Carson. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mae Jeffers; and three brothers: Floyd, Herman and Claude Carson. He was a retired conductor with the Southern Railway System, having worked for over 40 years with the Tennessee and Southern Railways. He was a member of the Pentecost Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Cora Lovett Carson of Rt. 1, Oneida; one daughter, Mrs. James E. (Betty Sue) Posey, Sr. of the Annadell Community; two sons and daughters-in-law: Kermit and Lizzie Carson of the Pine Creek Community; and David Gordon and Teddy Joe Carson of Nashville; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; two sisters: Anna Kettle of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Ada Phelps of Norwood, Ohio. Several nieces, nephews and many other relatives survive also. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 10 from the Pentecost Baptist Church, with the Rev. James O. Laxton, the Rev. Jerry Massengale, and the Rev. Milford Cecil officiating. Denita Hall and the Pentecost Baptist Church will sing. Burial will follow in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Pentecost Baptist Church from 12 noon on Thursday until the time of the funeral services at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel and again after 8 a.m. Thursday morning until the time of the departure to the church.
