He and Ellen were married on 1 May 1894 by Bishop Peter Johnson at Huntington, Utah. They resided there until the fall of 1925, and then moved to Salt Lake City. They were later sealed on 19 Sep 1894.
While they were living in Huntington, John owned and operated a general merchandise store, from June 1919 until they left to go to Salt Lake City. He also was employed in the United States Forest Service as Forest Guard and Ranger from June of 1906 until Dec 1917.
On May 16, 1916 John was set apart as counselor in the Bishopric of the Huntington Ward (Emery Stake) and ordained a High Priest at that time by Apostle Joseph Smith Jr. He served for eight years in that position.
After moving to Salt Lake City, John engaged in temple work doing the work for more than 600 people. While in the temple, he fell and broke his hip and was unable to walk after that.
He died on 26 Dec 1938 and is buried in the Elysian Burial Gardens Cemetery in the Holladay area of Salt Lake County.
