He was born September 15, 1933 at Roe, NC to Arlie and Maude Daniels. He was born just hours before the devastating Hurricane of 1933. He attended Cedar Island Elementary School and Atlantic High School. On January 19, 1952 he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country proudly until June 6, 1960. He also served in the US Air Force Reserves from January 12, 1961 until May 26, 1965. He then served in the US Coast Guard Reserves May 26, 1965 until May 26, 1968. He was employed by the Naval Air Rework Facility at MCAS, Cherry Point from Febuary 15, 1961 until August 31, 1989 and retired as a supervisor of Production Control.
Neil was a devoted member of the Cedar Island United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for 35 years. He also served on many boards and committees and was an active participant of many building programs. Neil was a member of the Crissie Wright Masonic Lodge 741 and the New Bern Scottish Rite. In his younger years he was the Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 493 and also coached little league baseball and the local men's baseball team. He was also a charter member of the Cedar Island Community Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arlie and Maude Daniels, a brother Durwood Daniels, and sisters Gloria Emory and Arlene Brittingham.
