Ralph Ray Spears, 52, of Middlebrook Drive, Wilkesboro, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Spears was born Feb. 3, 1946 in Wilkes County to Martin Rayvaughn and Zona Eva Cardwell Spears. He was a member of Stony Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Spears was retired from Merita Bakery.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Rayvaughn Spears, Ira Dean Spears and Julius Eugene Spears.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Jean Lovette Spears of the home; two daughters, Lisa Spears Mikeal and husband Roger; Renee Spears Taylor and husband Tim, both of Wilkesboro. two sisters, Annie Vea "Ann" Spears Binkley and husband, Carl, of Kernersville, Barbara Spears Pipek and husband, Art, of Purlear; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Stony Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rex Aldreth, the Rev. Ken Pardue, and the Rev. Chad Hendren officiating. The body was placed in the church at 2:30. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Discovery Fund, Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest Baptist, Development and Alumni Affairs, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27157.

Pallbearers were Tommy Lovette, Scott Lovette, Chad Lovette, Ryan Spears, Ronnie Hamby and Bill Church.
