James W. Beals 78, of rural Frankfort and Lake Wales, FL, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
He was born on August 31, 1934, in Hamilton County, IN to John & Evelyn (Shelley) Beals. He married Peggy Everett on May 31, 1954 in Frankfort and she survives.
Mr. Beals attended Frankfort High School. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in Newfoundland and Canada. He was owner of Frankfort Grain Inspection, Inc. for over 30 years. James and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Florida since 1991 and attended the Church of Christ in Lake Wales. While in Florida, he volunteered at the "Circle of Friends". He is a former member of the Frankfort Eagles and the Frankfort Bass Casters. James enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Beals of Rural Frankfort; three daughters, Dianna (Robert) Colby of Lake Wales, FL, Denise (Steve) Romack of Greenwood, IN, Cindy (Scott) Nichols of rural Frankfort, IN,; two sons, Brian (Cindy) Beals of rural Frankfort,and John Beals of Frankfort; a Sister, Patricia Ireland of Indianapolis, IN,; a brother, David Beals of Michigantown; 14 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded by in death by a brother, Robert Beals.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27th at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
