Joseph Mitchell Clark, 85, of Fort Myers, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009. He was born July 30, 1923 in Goldsboro, NC and has lived in Fort Myers since 1925. He graduated from Fort Myers High School and attended Edison College. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific. In 1974, he retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of service and was a long time member of Tropical Masonic Lodge #56, F. & A.M.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pearl Clark of Fort Myers; his daughter, Iline Burks of Altamonte Springs; grandchildren: Tiffany Harris (Lee Musselwhite) and Clayton Burks (Jamie Johnson) and great granddaughter, Lily Pearl Gilligan. Also surviving are his nieces: Caroline Halgrim (Robert), Ann Louise Fields, Debbie Ashbarger (Rick), Theresa Buckmaster and Sylvia Pike (Ken) and several cousins including a special cousin, Lalai Hamric (Curtis). He was preceded in death by his brother, John Clark in 1990 and a grandson, Dayne Brian Harris in 1983.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, 2438 Second Street, Fort Myers. Burial at a later time will follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2438 Second Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901.
