Caroline Elizabeth McGee was born near St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, to John and Mary Ann (Gallop) McGee. Her family moved in 1850 to near Hamilton, Ontario. They lived there until September of 1855, when they moved to Minnesota. Her family moved several times in Minnesota, but always lived in the vicinity of Little Falls and near the Mississippi River. They eventually settled in Brockway Township of Stearns County in February 1963, fourteen miles north of St. Cloud. They experienced all the hardships of pioneer days including the Indian outbreak.
Caroline's mother passed away in 1863, leaving a 6-month old baby, William Marshall McGee, and a 3-year old infant, Emma Amelia McGee. Caroline only 17 years old took her place in raising the younger members of the family. She had 4 younger brothers and 2 younger sisters. During those years, Caroline made great friends with Jennie Russell, who boarded at the McGee home while teaching. Mary E. Lambert was also a friend.

Caroline married Charles M. Hiscock on November 21, 1866 and they had 3 children; Mary Elizabeth, Samuel, and Jennie Lenore. Charles died in 1875 and Caroline was again was faced with the task of raising several small children.
The years went by, and Caroline married William Gordon on September 11, 1881. Caroline and William Gordon lived in Section 33 of Brockway Township and had one child, Alma. After William died, Caroline Gordon lived with her daughter Jennie L. Perry in Section 33 of Brockway Township until her death in 1934.

Mrs. Caroline Elizabeth Gordon, 88, died June 19 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. O. Perry of Brockway.
Friends may call at the Ross Funeral home in Sauk Rapids until the funeral hour, Thursday at 2:30 when Rev. E. E. Paulson will conduct the service in the Sartell Presbyterian church and burial will be made in the Brockway cemetery.
Mrs. Gordon was born in Canada. She came west with her parents at the age of nine years, the family settling near Little Falls where they experienced all the hardships of pioneer days including the Indian outbreak. Her mother died when she was 18 years old and Mrs. Gordon took her place in raising the younger members of the family.
In 1866 Mrs. Gordon married Charles Hiscock. Three children were born to this union. Mr. Hiscock died in 1875. Forty-nine years ago she married William Gordon to whom one child was born. Mr. Gordon died a number of years ago.
Three children survive - Mrs. Perry, Mrs. T.A. Mackey of Spokane, Wash.; Sam Hiscock, Rice. She leaves two brothers - John McGee of Seattle and William McGee of Roseberg, [Oregon]. There are 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Six grandsons will serve as pallbearers - Samuel and Wesley Perry, John Gazette, Robert, Leonard and Gordon Hiscock.
