Ole was born Ole Andreas Haggensen on May 13, 1869 in Trondheim, Norway, to Ole Haagensen & Elin Oline Ellingsdatter. He came to America in 1887, going first to Wisconsin where his brother had already settled. He eventually left Wisconsin, going to Iowa for a time. In 1903, he settled in Kansas, where he married and bought a farm, acquiring cattle and machinery. In 1934, he became a citizen of the U.S. He died on June 29, 1970, several weeks after his 101st birthday. Just one week before his 101st birthday, the local paper reported him as being the oldest resident in Gridley, and in the entire county of Coffey, Kansas. His wife, Minnie Frances Peary, had preceded him in death in 1964.
