Agnes Hagerty left this life to go home on October 26, 2013 at the Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg, Indiana. She began this life on November 1, 1921in Daviess County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Otto S. and Mary Elizabeth (Gates) Wathen.
Agnes spent her youth living in Montgomery, Princeton, and Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from Montgomery High School, then left to go work in Indianapolis. She worked at various department store positions as well as working and studying at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana.
Agnes married Francis E. Hagerty on November 22, 1941. Agnes raised ten children with great love and care. When all the children were raised she went back to college and received her LPN license. She put great love in taking care of others, while working at Lincoln Street Nursing Home and the Heritage House Nursing Home, both in Greensburg. Agnes also worked at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Agnes is survived by ten children; six sons, John and Dale Hagerty of Letts, Dennis (Susie) Hagerty and Bernie (Janet) Hagerty of Greensburg, Jim (Marietta) Hagerty of Westport, Larry (Kathy) Hagerty of North Vernon; four daughters, Dorothy (Steve) Scudder of St. Paul, Teresa (Joel) Diedrich of Georgia, Alice (Bob) Back of Westport, and Nancy (Dan) Schroeder of Greensburg; one sister, Viola (Mac) McMillan of Los Angeles, California; 36 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse; one brother, Vincent Wathen of New Mexico; three sisters, Kathryn (William) Kelly, Dorothy McKinney both of Los Angeles, California, Charlotte Wathen of Montgomery, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public rosary service will be held on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
