Dale A. Hagerty, 67, Letts, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017. He was born May 31, 1949, in Montgomery, Indiana, son of the late Francis and Agnes Hagerty.

He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1967. Dale went on to serve honorably in the US Army mechanized Calvary in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Dale returned home to work construction with his father. He also worked at the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department. He went on to become an EMT and fireman, retiring from the Columbus Fire Department.

Dale enjoyed life by spending time with his family and friends. He especially liked sharing his recipes with others and bringing his potato salad and chili to family events.

He is survived by his daughter, Dayna Hagerty, Columbus; son, Brian Hagerty, Letts; grandson, Nate (Krista) Hagerty; great-grandchildren, Piper and Kaylee, Columbus; and former spouse, Jan Hagerty, Columbus.

Dale is remembered by his sisters, Alice (Bob) Back, Bloomington, Nancy (Dan) Schroeder, Greensburg, Dorothy (Steve) Scudder, Greenwood, Teresa (Joel) Diedrich, Georgia; brothers, Larry (Kathy) Hagerty, North Vernon; John Hagerty, Letts; Jim (Marietta) Hagerty, Westport; Dennis (Susie) Hagerty and Bernie (Janet) Hagerty, Greensburg. Thirty-three nieces and nephews will dearly miss their Uncle Dale.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 at the Knights of St. John, 312 S. Wilder. Dale's family hopes friends and acquaintances will come share stories and remembrances.
