Barbara A. Gertsch was born 1823, Bern, Switzerland no church record found yet as prove as listed on gravestone, baptized Feb. 20th 1825 Barbara A. Gertsch married Peter F. Schlunegger Jan. 23,1846 Bern, Switzerland, as his 2nd wife & step mother to his 4 children, after the death of his first wife Anne Gertsch. Together Peter & Barbara had 10 more known Children: Christian, Margaret, Frederick, William IV, Elizabeth, Edward, Alfred, Mary Ann, Caroline, Emma. All The children were born in Lauterbrunnen, Bern, Switzerland. Peter's first 4 children -only one Johannes & his wife moved with Peter and his second family to America Oct. 16, 1971 aboard the Ship "Baltimore" from Liverpool, England to New York City, New York USA, listed a Schlinegger, Petter with other family members. They settled & farmed in the Clarement, Bonpus twp., Richland Co. Illinois Area. There they helped built the church at Dutch Flat being active members to that church -where now only the cemetery remains. In the Dutch Flats Cemetery, in Richland County, Illinois thier Tombstone Inscription are listed as : Slunaker P. 1813-1886 & B. A. 1823-1886. They died just a few months a part.
