J. L. BRESHEARS, 84, DIED JULY 4

John L. Breshears (John Morrison Link Breshears), better known as Grandpa, was born in Polk county, Missouri, Dec. 23, 1850 and passed away at the home of his son, J. H. Breshears, July 4, 1934.

In January, 1880, he was united in marriage to Miss Phrona Tuckness (Safrona Bashaba Tuckness), who departed this life in April, 1888, leaving three sons, J. H. ( James Henry Breshears), C. W. ( Charles William Breshears) and F. A. ( Francis Arthur Breshears).

In September, 1891, Mr. Breshears was again united in marriage, Miss Laura Engle becoming his wife. To this union were born two sons, J. E. (Joseph Edgar Breshears) and F. V. (Frederick Vale Breshears), and again the wife and mother was called away, leaving the little ones to the care of the father.

In 1924 he became a member of the Baptist church, and continued in the faith through the years.

For the past several years, Mr. Breshears had made his home with his son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Breshears.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Christian church Friday at two o'clock by the pastor, Clifton A. Lorts, and interment was in the Portales cemetery by Wheeler and Johnson.
