Sandy Banks Witt, 74, of 2303 Fort Ave., a retired building contractor, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Bedford county, he was the son of William Ward Witt and Lockie Jane Burnett Witt. He was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Virgie Hogan Witt; five sons, Thurman E. Witt of Pontiac, Mich., Lewis C. Witt, Howard D. Witt, Edward R. Witt and Cecil W. Witt, all of Lynchburg; one sister, Mrs. R.D. McQuarry of Lynchburg; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Overby of Roanoke; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at West Lynchburg Baptist Church at 11 am Wednesday. Burial will be at Fort Hill Cemetery. Hudgins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will be at the residence at 2303 Fort Ave.
