Ralph Louis Clay

Ralph Louis Clay, age 70, of LaBelle, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born March 5, 1943, in Quincy, IL, the son of Ralph Cecil and Dois Ivy Manley Clay. He was united in marriage to Melaine James and she preceded him in death on November 9, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are three children, Anthony cClay and wife Karen of Edwardsville, IL, Angela Dean and husband Thomas of Quincy, IL, and JaDonna Gregg and husband Travis of Hannibal, MO, three brothers, David Clay and wife Elaine, Lennie Clay, and Dwight Clay and wife Theresa all of LaBelle, MO, one sister Janie Tasco of LaBelle, MO, eleven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ralph received his education in LaBelle. He resided most all of his life in the LaBelle area where he worked as a farm hand for J.V. Norton for several years. He also worked with his father digging graves. Ralph was past president of the local district of AA. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served as deacon, sang in the choir, and assisted with the general maintenance at the church. In his earlier years he trained horses and rode bulls in the rodeo. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends. Graveside services will be held 1 PM Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the LaBelle Cemetery. Pastor James Salter will officiate the services. Casket bearers will be Tomas Dean, DeAngelo Dean, Deonte` Dean, Trevor Clay, Chandler Clay, Cameron Clay and Lennie Clay, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Keith Tasco, Kevin Tasco, Frederick Tasco, Dwight Clay, Lennie Clay Travis Gregg and David Clay. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014, from 12 noon till 1 p.m. at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Memorials may be made to the Family.
