Karen Gist, 32, died April 19, 1995 at the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Okla. City. Born June 23, 1962 to J.L. Gist and Jeanine Gilbertson in Midwest City, Ok. Mrs. Carr was a member of First Christian Church of Midwest City. She was an Advertising Assistant for Army Recruiting. She received an Associates in Business from Rose State College, Midwest City, Ok, Business Administration Degree in Marketing from Central State University, Edmond, Ok. She was a member of Toastmasters International, Mid-Del Club since 1987 and elected Vice-President from June-December 1989 and President from January-June 1990. Awards include four consecutive exceptional performance awards, commendable ratings from the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) Inspector General and an official commendation for effective accomplishment. Co-recipient of the first Patrick J. King Award FY89 for best communications program in USAREC and 5th Recruiting Brigade. She was an aerobics instructor at YMCA Downtown and at Rose Stat e College. She was united in marriage to Gregory Carr on April 11, 1987 at the First Christian Church of Midwest City. She is survived by husband, Gregory, of the home; her parents, J.L. and Jeanine Gist, 4 sisters, Shirley Goodman, Sandra and husband, G eorge Poplin, Peggy and husband, Mike Pietrowicz, and Lynn Gist, all of Midwest City; grandfather, Harold Gilbertson of Midwest City; 2 nieces, Nicole Poplin and Melissa Pietrowicz and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 1995 at First Christian Church of Midwest City with burial in Arlington Memory Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Feed The Children.
