A native of Maury County, he was the son of the late Jim and Menervie Stewart. in 1930 he married to the former Pearl Thomason, who survives.
In addition to his wife he is survived by six daughters; Mrs. Edward (Dimple) Vaughn, Mrs. Elizabeth Kelley, Mrs. Leon (Margaret) Slaughter, Mrs. Johnny (Edna) Winn, and Mrs. Junior (Frances) Hughes, all of Columbia, and Mrs. Ray (Christine) Goodson, Dallas, TX; one sister, Mrs. J. D. Cunningham, Detroit, MI; one brother, Leslie Stewart of Porter's Chapel and 10 grandchildren.
Two sons and a daughter proceeded him in death.
