FUNERAL RITES MONDAY FOR MRS. HAWTHORNE
Mrs. Mary C. Hawthorne, 82, passed away at the Ottumwa Hospital early Saturday morning. She had been in ill health for some time. Her husband Templeton Hawthorne passed away a year ago last month.
Funeral services were held at the Community Funeral Home in Ottumwa, Monday afternoon and burial was made in the Competine Cemetery near Farson.
Born July 6, 1870 in Illinois she was the daughter of Alex and Lucinda Greenlee. She had lived most of her life in Martinsburg and Highland Center communities. She was a member of the Farson Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Davis of Agency and Mrs. Clay Campbell (Icel) of Martinsburg and three sons, Loren E. Hawthorne of Highland Center, Hessel Hawthorne of Fairfield and Raymond of Ontario, California, three granchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband in April 1952, two infant children, four sisters and one brother.
