ELMER RUDOLPH MINSKE, age 96, of Waseca, died on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Colony Court in Waseca.
Born on December 17, 1913 in Deerfield Township, Steele County, Minnesota, he was the son of Rudolph H. and Bertha M. (Mertins) Minske. He attended School District #19 in rural Steele County. Elmer married Amalia "Molly" Vollbrecht on October 5, 1933 at Trinity Lutheran Church-North Morristown. Together they farmed until moving to Waseca in 1949. Elmer did carpentry work for a couple of years before working for the University of Minnesota – Waseca where he was a beef herdsman for 27 years, retiring in January of 1978. Elmer enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing, camping and playing cards. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca where he served as an elder, ushered for funerals, and was a member of the 29ers. He was also a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and assisted Walt Kinder for several years with funerals.
He is survived by one son, Delbert (Ginger) Minske of Longville and Karen (Paul) Harguth of Mankato; nine grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold (Leona) Minske of Waseca and Christ (Lucy) Minske of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter-Darlene Muetzel, great grandson-David Bodeau, and four brothers-Walter, Rudy, Marvin, and James.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Terry Quick officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
